This Privacy Policy explains how BlackEdge Software Ltd ("BlackEdge", "we", "us") collects, uses, and protects personal data when you use our website and the BlackEdge platform (the "Service"). We are the data controller for the personal data described here. If you are in the EEA or UK, we process your data in accordance with the GDPR / UK GDPR.
1. Data we collect
- Account & contact data: name, email address, company, and details you provide when booking a call or creating an account.
- Onboarding data: information you share during the qualification call and setup, such as the websites/domains you wish to optimize.
- Billing data: handled by our Payment Provider (see Section 4). We do not store full card numbers.
- Usage & technical data: log data, device/browser information, IP address, and how you interact with the Service.
- Cookies & analytics: see Section 6.
2. How we use your data
- to provide, operate, and secure the Service;
- to qualify, onboard, and support you as a customer;
- to process subscriptions and prevent fraud (via our Payment Provider);
- to communicate service, billing, and support information;
- to send marketing communications where permitted, which you may opt out of at any time; and
- to comply with legal obligations.
3. Legal bases (GDPR / UK GDPR)
We rely on: contract (to deliver the Service you purchase); legitimate interests (to secure, improve, and market our Service proportionately); consent (for certain cookies and marketing); and legal obligation (for tax, accounting, and compliance).
4. Payment processing and Merchant of Record
Payments are processed by our authorized reseller and Merchant of Record (our authorized payment provider). When you purchase a subscription, the Payment Provider collects and processes your billing and payment information as a separate data controller for that transaction, under its own privacy policy. We receive limited transaction data (such as confirmation of payment, billing country, and the last four digits of your card) needed to provide and account for the Service.
5. Sharing your data
We share personal data only with: our Payment Provider; infrastructure, hosting, and CDN providers; analytics and email/support tools; and professional advisers, each acting as processors or independent controllers as appropriate. We may disclose data where required by law. We do not sell your personal data.
6. Cookies
We use strictly necessary cookies to operate the site and, with your consent, analytics and marketing cookies. You can manage preferences through our cookie controls or your browser settings.
7. International transfers
Your data may be processed outside your country, including in the the UK, EEA, and United States. Where we transfer data internationally, we use appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses.
8. Data retention
We retain personal data only as long as needed to provide the Service, comply with legal and tax obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements, after which it is deleted or anonymized.
9. Your rights
Subject to applicable law, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict, or port your data, to object to processing, and to withdraw consent. 10. Security
We maintain commercially reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect personal data. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
11. Children
The Service is not directed to individuals under 18, and we do not knowingly collect their personal data.
12. Changes
We may update this Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date reflects the latest revision; material changes will be communicated where appropriate.
